The metamorph towards the light

This piece came about through a few realisations about change. Change comes in many forms in our lives, it is a fact, and necessitates some sort of acknowledgement. Change can be scary as it can seem like it's beyond our control. The strange thing about this control though is it's actually just a veneer, an illusion, a mirage. Aside from our own reactions, and actions, we actually control nothing else in life, yet we live like we control it all. This can lead to an excessive fear reaction when change happens. I used the sheer nature of the fruit, and butterfly in this piece to symbolise the veneer of change, you can actually see the background through these objects.
Now the butterfly. Butterflies are generally accepted as going through the most dramatic metamorphosis (see change) in nature, ever. And they do this without a fuss, any analysis, or thought, why, because they are made with this instinct. This created biological instinct means they just get this metamorphosis stuff done. I like this idea. I think that if I could come to terms with the lack of control I have in my life, then change would not be an issue. Like the butterfly I could metamorph as needed, and adapt to the new situation. I think that personally, having my faith in God, this enables me to know that someone higher and better than I, has things in hand, so letting go of my supposed control is slightly easier. A subject which I continue to ponder, but for now it has coalesced into this piece which I rather love.
