Waiting to Blossom
Waiting to Blossom of the first in a series exploring the seasons in life of waiting, persisting, digging in, and leaning to wait well.
The figure is resigned to the wait but not negatively. The set of the jaw, the slouched posture capture the tension of the wait, but the eyes are bright and colours vibrant to symbolise the hope for this season to pass. The flowers are in bud but yet to open, and the kitten watches on with detached amusement at the silly human because what are these things to a cat.
Overall I chose a bright and joyful colour palette to show that waiting is not always synonymous with defeat. I am depicting my own journey of learning to wait well for things to come.
